Fine weather and stay-at-home orders have created a situation at our beautiful Lake Park area that the Board would like to address.
For those unfamiliar with this area, it is the place to launch your boat or kayak onto Lake Lochmere, or perhaps fish from the docks. This park is one of the many amenities enjoyed by Lochmere residents.
A number of regulations are necessary to maintain the area for all residents to enjoy. Lakes rules are available on the Lochmere.org website HERE.
- Park hours are from 6 AM to 9 PM during the months of April through October, and 7 AM to 6 PM from November to March. Any use of the park outside those hours is considered trespassing. Lately neighbors have noticed an increase in use of the Park by large groups after hours. Cary Police do patrol this park routinely after posted hours and will ask trespassers to leave; they could issue citations.
- Vehicles must not block access. If the area is busy, extra parking is available at the Lochwood main pool parking lot (500 Lochmere Drive). Residents can make the short walk down to the area. Priority should be given to those launching watercraft.
- Due to current CDC COVID-19 guidelines, people should not congregate. Neighbors have reported large groups of young people during afternoon hours. We ask parents to discuss the possible consequences from the virus with their children, as well as respecting neighbors near the Park by avoiding excessive noise and traffic.
- We care about personal safety. Swimming is not permitted as we do not have lifeguards in the area. Inflatable rafts or rings are also not permitted.
Lochmere is working with Cary Police to increase patrols in this area. Please note that Lochmere does not monitor or control social distancing rules.
Residents are encouraged to call Cary Police directly on their non-emergency number (919) 469-4012 to report any violations.
We understand that use of our parks during this Pandemic is very welcomed. We just ask everyone to respect the guidelines.
